Liquor scam news

The details are here if you do not have time to watch. New liquor policy started in Delhi from last novermber. Firstly, Government used to run 60% of shops in old policiy, and it is 100% of private sales in new policy. Secondly, it is allowed in open spaces or terraces in restuarants. Thirdly, dry days were reduced from twenty one days to three days. Fourth, shops can sell less than maximum retail price. Fifth, pink booths. Sixth, allowed age is relaxed from 25 to 21 years. There are 32 zones in delhi and they allowed 25 shops in each zone. Number of shops increased a lot. People started expressing concerns. This seemed to be bad policy, however where is the corruption. Administration did more things without getting approval from governor. Lowest bidder was returned security deposit against excise laws. Import fees on foreign liquor was reduced. License fees were waived because of pandemic. Action was not taken on broad publicity in media and social media. The government cancelled new liquor policy immediately after the case was filed and the report was prepared. The assumption is that they are worried of getting exposed and took that action. Japan's mystery

Japan is always an inspiration. Our youth, instead of seeking more military jobs and burning trains, shall see how Japan benefitted from fewer military personnel. Our leaders, instead of giving freebies and inciting people with emotions, shall enable private industries to innovate and lead the market. Something else matters

Black lives matter was a movement I witnessed two years ago with a series of protests and debates. I learned a valuable lesson from a colleague's post. Some others replied with police lives matter, Hispanic lives matter, women lives matter etc. They do not go well. When someone is asking justice, one has to address it first before bringing all other injustices. The original protesters feel their purpose is diluted or diverted. Coming to Indian example, when telangana people seeked justice, others seeked for uttarandra or rayalaseema. That made original protesters more angrier. Actress sai pallavi has all rights to express her view. She is also right. She did the mistake of normalization or dilution. Politicians or leaders often do that as a method to skip a direct answer. For a reason, I am an engineer and not a politician. When you are asked whether some thing would break a bridge, you would not say something else would also harm. You think about that as part of future plans and not as immediate answers.

Inflation

Getting a pinch from inflation. Stations are updating prices frequently. Some say it is supply chain. Some say it is ukraine driven. Some say it is because of biden pensions. Some say it is wage based builtin inflation. Whatever it may be, we are paying twice of what was five years ago.

State elections

Happy and surprised to see the state election results in India. Happy to see that aap won in second state and becoming major contende and it is proved again a party can win without relying on note giving. Surprised to see that bjp could win in such a huge manner again after the pandemic and bad press about idealogies. People are becoming predictable. Hope and governance beat opponents.
