The details are here if you do not have time to watch. New liquor policy started in Delhi from last novermber. Firstly, Government used to run 60% of shops in old policiy, and it is 100% of private sales in new policy. Secondly, it is allowed in open spaces or terraces in restuarants. Thirdly, dry days were reduced from twenty one days to three days. Fourth, shops can sell less than maximum retail price. Fifth, pink booths. Sixth, allowed age is relaxed from 25 to 21 years. There are 32 zones in delhi and they allowed 25 shops in each zone. Number of shops increased a lot. People started expressing concerns. This seemed to be bad policy, however where is the corruption. Administration did more things without getting approval from governor. Lowest bidder was returned security deposit against excise laws. Import fees on foreign liquor was reduced. License fees were waived because of pandemic. Action was not taken on broad publicity in media and social media. The government cancelled new liquor policy immediately after the case was filed and the report was prepared. The assumption is that they are worried of getting exposed and took that action.
